What is Conformal Coating
Conformal coating is a process that keeps electronic components away from unfavorable factors such as moisture, corrosion, and heat. And it can ultimately lengthen the lifespan of devices. Each component like diodes, capacitors, fuses plays an important role, if one of them is damaged, then the whole device would fail. It can be applied both manually and automatically, the coating is thin and light, normally, the thickness of it is of a range from 25 to 250 microns. Its texture can be hard and rubbery, which depends on the material used. Commonly used materials for conformal coating include acrylics, polyurethanes, silicons, epoxy, and resins.
The Advantages of Conformal Coating:
Reduce conductor spacing by over 80%
Reduce the need for complex enclosures
Lightweight, thin, and high flexibility
Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance capabilities
Easy to remove, repair and replace
Great thermal and mechanical shock resistance properties
